The soft knock on your door instantly made you smile. You didn’t even have to check through the peephole to know who it was.

“Oh, hi Soonyoung” you tucked the strand of hair that bothered your sight.

“Hi y/n” He returns the smile and looks at his feet for a second before continuing with his daily mission “I was wondering…”

“Let me guess” you leaned on the doorframe, crossing your arms over your chest. “Is there a new Japanese restaurant you wanna try out?”

“Nope.” he shook his head eagerly.

“A new game you wanna play?” 

“I tried it yesterday and it sucked, so no” Soonyoung made a face, showing his disappointment.

“You saved me from boredom” you giggled “Then… movie night?”

“Have you watched Sonic 3?” the shine in his eyes, and the hopeful tone he used to ask you the question made you decide almost immediately that you had to lie to him. 

“I have been wanting to!” you nodded, thanking your past self for not having uploaded any picture of all the ones you took when you went to the movie premiere with your co-worker and bestie. 

When he extended his hand your way, inviting you to walk a few meters to his own apartment, you chuckled, “Give me a sec”

You went back inside to get your keys and phone, and as soon as you locked your apartment door, Soonyoung took your hand and interlaced your fingers. “Do you wanna order?”

“You choose”

As much as you were used to his impromptu dates — which were never called that, at least as of now — he never failed to impress you. His living-room was already set with dim lights and the couch was full of pillows and fluffy blankets. 

You gave a cute whine when you saw your favorite plushie already waiting for you on ‘your side’ of the couch. “My Cinnamoroll!”

“He has been waiting for you for a long time”

His soft smile and the way he caressed your fingers with his without letting go had you entranced. All those little details, how he just knocked your door with a different idea on how to spend time together, even though you had barely held hands for three whole months — you just knew he was the one. 

So when you leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to his lips, the shocked face he gave you was the one you were expecting. He had always been cautious, respecting boundaries that you hadn't even set, and in response, he would never have dared to kiss you.

 “Wh-wha… I-I'm… what?” 

“Sorry for keeping you waiting” you giggled feeling your cheeks heating up. You were brave, but that didn’t mean you weren’t shy.

“I didn’t- I never e-expected t-this” his surprise slowly morphed into a bashful smile, and he suddenly seemed to understand that he was allowed to kiss you back “Oh” 

“Yeah” you chuckled, “Please kiss me or I’ll think you have been taking me out for months just because you didn’t have anyone else to do all those things with”

“Bullshit” 

Soonyoung liked challenges, and he also liked you. So kissing you was not something you would have to ask him to do from now on. Because he had been waiting to do that ever since you moved into his building — just steps away from him.

I actually read this in reverse and was about to write a different answer for a sec but this is. fascinating!!! in everything I've actually uploaded so far walenty is a minor in our world! but in flos the legal age of adulthood (for humans and those that age like them) is 16, while the age of graduation from daffodil for humans is 18.

this is cause of worldbuilding stuff and flos' schooling system having originally been meant for elves, so the equivalent translation into human lifespans is awkward??? but I consider all walenties below 18 minors even if they're legally an adult in their setting in some of the pieces I write, cause they're fictional and ultimately are considered from a modern lens.

...damn that was lengthy. all to say that I wasn't completely sure what "adult self" entailed. y'knowhat I'm gonna pick 19 cause that's when walenty is actually settling into adulthood. for the childhood era one I'm actually gonna pick 8 years old, before it enrolled into daffodil! at this point of the story walenty is currently going by it/its pronouns because gender discovery is a bitch and experimentation is part of the process.

okay now that I established what an adult!walenty even is in the context of their universe and what child!walenty's pronouns are we can start. child!walenty would think adult!walenty is an undercover cop in a weird (and bad) disguise trying to arrest it. worries about having gotten sold out, throws a rock at them and runs away. adult!walenty would not bother chasing after it they have a job

damn that was an unsatisfactory conclusion

hmmm maybe in the scenario they meet in a dream or something and child!walenty does realize what is happening it'd ask adult!walenty just what happened because is that a fucking daffodil badge. how come they're dressed like that, how are they so clean. did that one guy ever actually pay them back. did it get caught. it's curious about the future!

adult!walenty would mostly answer truthfully, but intentionally be vague and only answer what's asked. whether they recited what they wanted to say or not it's gonna be awkward, cause they don't wanna tell their younger self what's coming. at this point they don't think any advice can genuinely make a change either. they wouldn't have listened to what could actually changed what happens either, so they don't try.

🥶 What is this character's primary fear response; Fight, flight, freeze, or fawn? 

fawn. very very fawn. where they are, they're scared of being hurt, and they'll be hurt if they act how those with authority don't want, so they act the desired way. useful and cute and polite and obedient. people always have motives, always have a formula that can be followed to satisfy/pacify them. once walenty figures it out, they can use it to be safe, because there's no need to punish someone who's already good.

this was a ride yippie!! ended up way longer than I expected just for the first one to be summarized as "it'd ask them a lot of questions cause it's curious about the future and wants to prepare" and the second one to just be the main aspect of walenty as a character concept. of course her latest selfie is pretty weird but no one is talking about how everyone was tweeting photos saying how beautiful she was at that match but in reality that photo was fucking unflattering (the photo when she noticed David). I also saw that some people added a photo from this match and Sebastian from the latest pap walk and I felt a bit... well, I had a lot of questions and especially how can someone think that they fit together? xd

Personalities speaking for me Sebastian would be a huge red flag if they were together for real becauss we know she is a royalist, stalking his fans, her exes' girlfriends, bffs with Jared Leto for years, defended W. Allen, still friendly on social media with A. Hammer; she always baits him, uploading pics live etc, completely opposite to his: there is a life out there, stop being on social media preach (which he also does not respect, she likes comments about his voice, posts only about projects when they can bring her attention; she is kinda zionist (not pro Palestine for sure - especially since her first post was more pro Israel "neutral" my a§s and she looooves tagging the A list) + let's not forget she liked deuxmoi's post without being tagged (no, shippers, that is not MOTHER behaviour. If Ale did this, you'd have went insane) and so on.

And he'd be a red flag as a boyfriend if that's how he is with someone he is supposed to be in love with (noth: at the beginning when we first saw them together and now): body language (weird fake smiles, no warmth, no synergy, never caught kissing, no real hugs, that kiss at Cannes was in the corner of the mouth and she looked so icked after it, argue with the wall... I got second hand embarrassment watching them bc I felt the awkwardness), stepping on her dress, not even posing for a sec at Cannes; I remember fans saying they were distant in Portugal, him giving her his finger to hold something he's never done with his exes and it was not something cool), covering his face with her, not touching her, fake smiles, always in his phone, letting go of her hand once paps walk away, not helping her with her luggage (not because she can't handle it but bc we saw him constantly and even on Thunderbolts set helping a crew woman carry something) and so on. If that is hin being a boyfriend after Ale aka changed completely, he is a huge red flag.

If this = relationship goals, I do not want it.

JK (belated) bday reading - 9/2

I'm doing this on September 2nd. I think I did read for him on his actual birthday but I wasn't going to post anything. However I was thinking of him this morning because I was working on scheduling a tattoo appointment.

btw - sorry for typos in these; I voice to text my readings and since they're so long... I really don't go back and edit them. I'm more like a tarot therapist, I like to talk my way through a reading.

Going back to the readings I did in June for a sec (feel free to skip the next few paragraphs if you didnt read those):

Two things that stood out for predictions that were interesting to me because they so specifically came out as something: The first was Jin, and I didn't think it made sense at all for right after he got out of the military service, he would go camping and be doing these activities and stuff and then they announced that he had that show where the first one he was camping and hiking lol. Take that with a grain of salt but that was kind of you know a little specific. The second is about Tae. When I did his reading, I specifically mentioned that I wasn't picking up the word lonely, I was picking up the word alone. And then on are you sure, he literally plays Jimins song “alone” and says that this is the song that he relates to the most and anybody who likes it best on the album would get him.

I really really like to do predictions so when I can validate something actually happened without somebody really reaching hard to try and say oh yeah that came true. But I thought those were two very specific examples of something I talked about and then much later it kind of comes up. Come on, Tae's is... interesting.

Jungkook's birthday reading:

For reference, I looked at the photo of JK that Jhope had uploaded to his IG (which is interesting as Jhope will come up a lot in this).

I'm sitting down to look at his spread but I thought it was kind of remarkable that he got so many court cards, all of them cup cards. And then when I did the clarifications using another deck again I got court cards but with the pentacles. Usually when there's a lot of court cards, people say that can mean multiple people are around or involved or whatever and that could be the case. I find court cards strange so I like to clarify them. And then when I see the seven of swords I always like to clarify it. I get that card a lot for him and sometimes Jimin. You know besides being a card about lie or gossip, it's a card about secrets or I also sometimes see it as a card where somebody's carrying a lot of painful things on their own or trying to do too much on their own. It can also be if you want to read it in a positive light being resourceful I guess but it still has that sneaky undertone. 

Also the back of the deck for the clarification card was the hierophant and that came out in the first deck. Point being when that happens it's creepy and it means there's some consistency. 

So let's look at the original deck and then we'll look at the oracles. We have page of cups, seven of swords, King of cups, hierophant. Back of deck is the night of cups plus the fool. Oracle cards are listen, dream, and communication at the back of the deck with an invitation behind it. 

You know what's funny is on the service this is the perfect combination for somebody who just eloped lol. We do have a theme set by the oracles, we have listen, communication, and dream. So there is already some sense of listening and talking and those conversations being about some type of wish or goal or dream. It's also giving a lot of water vibes in the sense of Pisces. The cups are a creative, sensitive, artistic energy. It could be that he is talking about music or working on music or thinking about music or having conversations with certain people about music and what he wants to do in the future. The fact that he has seven of swords could also be symbolic of BTS. The members tend to get a lot of sevens when I read for them. 

Honestly the first thing that comes to my mind when I look at the hierophant and the clarifiers even on kind of jumping ahead, is you know hierophant can also stand in for certain institutions whether it's a college or government. And the fact that it's being clarified by nine of cups which is that wish fulfillment or dream card or gold, and 10 of sores is an end to a cycle or something that's even a little bit difficult or painful. It would make me think that maybe this is conversations and thoughts about what's going to happen with the music after service. Maybe because it was his birthday, depending on if they stayed where they serve or if they got together with friends and family somewhere else or even if somebody like J-Hope was actually able to visit, they had these types of conversations briefly so that could be on his mind 

Another way to interpret that hierophant stuff could be you know I also see this card as a set of organized beliefs. It doesn't have to be religious or spiritual specifically, it can be just like a creed or you know principles or whatever beliefs you have as an individual. So it could be maybe like an end to a self-defeating belief or almost like if you had the tower card or the devil card I guess. And like some of those thoughts were getting in the way of a goal. It does make me wonder if it feels more like literally as in a real roadblock. Not necessarily a mental roadblock. But as in like yeah if you couldn't do something right now based on legality or procedure or a government body standing in the way. It could also be about conformity I suppose. But this card at least as I'm interpreting it now gives a sense of rigidity. Like a wall. And it's just in the way of some type of dream. It does feel temporary. It's kind of annoying. It feels like an obligation. But let's keep looking 

So page of cups, usually about communication or some type of offer, it could be a romantic offer. You could certainly interpret that from the amount of cups cards here. I don't really see it when I look into the clarification but that doesn't mean that there aren't conversations here happening about emotional commitment to something or someone. 

But I mean another interpretation because of the seven of swords could definitely feel like this person is keeping something hidden from somebody in their life or has a secret or is keeping a secret from someone that they're committed to. But I mean again because BTS is so attached to the number seven this could also simply be okay we know this is about communication, there are seven swords involved, so this could be carrying communication related to seven people. It is interesting that the person is carrying five and then there are two on the ground. So it could be about two people of the seven. It doesn't really matter. My overall impression is like literally people got together and started talking about the future and what BTS was going to do in terms of music lol. That would just be a guess. And if he was just hanging out with other members or hearing from them at this moment then that would make perfect sense right 

I also wonder if literally there was a conversation that happened recently where somebody was talking about a literal dream. Like it wouldn't surprise me if they could do a live, that JK would be like you know I had this dream and I was telling so-and-so the other day or this other member was telling me about a dream they had. Kind of like those conception dreams. It feels like you know even if it wasn't a dream, this person is visualizing something in the future so clearly that it feels like it could have been a dream, because it's being imagined so clearly like a movie. Or I guess like a painting I don't know what you want to say. So it's almost like an omen or prophecy. That's how they might have talked about it. I mean if J-Hope is getting out of the military soon, maybe they talked about his plans and some music ideas, I don't know if they can actually work on things while they are in service. Even in private to release later, so maybe JK might be collabing with J-Hope or was helping him write something. I did use the photo J-Hope put on his Instagram so it wouldn't surprise me if some connection comes through like that 

Having the king of cups too is definitely somebody who is very level-headed in their emotions and very sensitive very calm and cool and collected and could be extremely creative and emotionally mature. I think that some advice was given as well. Either somebody seeking advice about a music project or being given advice. Yeah definitely some type of conversation was had and then that was taken away somewhere like look at the seven of swords and it's almost like okay somebody gave advice and then maybe a person with secretly listening in or is just quietly taking in that advice or that conversation to use in the future or taking note. It just depends because seven of swords typically has a negative connotation but with BTS it's just so hard to tell what these damn seven cards. None of the other cards are negative except a 10 of swords later on. 

and plus you never know what they're doing that needs to be hidden or in secret because spoilers or other things. But some type of conversation was had and something was taken away from it. I guess maybe there's even a little bit of bitterness that happened because he can't work on something right away. Maybe there is some impatience. Which doesn't really match with the cups cards but seven of swords can be bitterness and carrying guilt even. 

And then the back of the deck was knight of cups which is you know slow action or progress being made toward a creative project or something related to love feelings relationships. Maybe there are a lot of new relationships happening, people he's meeting in the military, because it does seem like there are a lot of people around or more interactions and conversations happening. The fool behind it, can be like fun, innocent, adventurous, and pulsive, risk-taking. So there could be a sense of newness to whatever this conversation is. It doesn't feel like an old conversation like hey we're reminiscing about the past and what we used to do. It feels like reinventing. It would be like totally new projects and new music and thinking about new concepts. Really looking forward instead of backward 

Right so clarifications let's tie them and maybe that will help out too. Page of cups is clarified by the king of pentacles. This could be his energy because he has a fair amount of water and pentacles in his chart. It would make me think of a person who literally creates creative communication or somebody who's offering words as a form of commitment or sincerity, there's something very reliable and what is being said or done or produced. 

It does kind of feel a little bit too like an offering of a gift. Like a material gift, something that cost money. It could be a gift that he received. It could be I mean sure it could be like a material gift but it honestly feels like somebody gave him a song. Or somebody giving a song to somebody else as a gift. Because in the king of pentacles I feel like you know this is somebody who can literally create something physical but the thing that was given is a little bit of communication, a little bit of feelings, a little bit of creativity. So a combination would definitely seem like giving somebody your feelings but you happen to make it yourself so yes it feels like giving somebody a song or a really sincere piece of advice as an offering or gift 

To have the knight of pentacles come out to clarify the seven of swords. So the knight of pentacles is that earnest, slow, methodical progress toward something tangible usually. The fact that it's seven of swords could be a couple of different things. Such as slow progress on working on something by yourself, something that's been a bit difficult, or working on it in secret, the fact that it's seven could be that it's tied to a secret or hidden projects being worked on related to BTS. But more it's just a sense of doing some type of work or project but it's being hidden or it's not being revealed yet. I think. I might think something different once I read the other two cards because another negative option would be some type of communication about the work that they do being talked about but related to gossip or secrets. I'm not really getting anything negative from it so let's just keep it in the back of our minds 

The king of cups is clarified by 10 of pentacles. It's almost like the first king with the page of cups feeling. But somebody who is very stable emotionally or it's talking about emotional health because 10 of pentacles can be about physical health. So it's like somebody gave advice to somebody that's very coming from a place of being extremely emotionally mature or is trying to advise somebody on how to get to that place of feeling more solid emotionally 

Again it could also be related to making money off of creativity. Being not productive but someone who definitely makes money off of creative ventures, and not just that you can tell it's a creative field that involves communication and feelings which just brings it back to music for me 

The final card the hierophant, this is 10 of swords and nine of cups. I talked about this and I just think there's a cycle that will come to an end, it could be a belief, or it could even be that okay again I'm getting that somebody gave him advice or I mean he could be the one giving advice but I just get the sense somebody received advice right and it helped to end worries about something related to a future goal 

I'm still kind of confused about the seven of swords so I'm going to clarify again. You know this is the Taurus card it can also be related to financial things or domestic things. But I think they're all tied into one The idea of people who work in a creative industry that is also run by like money and business methods. And the people who are involved in that industry. I don't think this is something that usually comes up when you are serving or even with his cards since he's been serving so it definitely feels triggered by somebody that he was talking to recently. Whether that is J-Hope or another member or anybody else in the industry that he could have spoken with about a project. I'm not getting the sense that it's Jimin.

We know that they're serving together but I'm not really getting that they had this intense conversation about it maybe he was a part of it but I feel like somebody older came in and spoke to him and gave him hope. And the only person that makes sense to me would be j-hope if he was there because he's so close to the end of his service that he would be talking about the goals and things he wants to do and also giving advice to them about what it's going to be like for the next 9 months or whatever you know to get through it. And I think that conversation gave JK and anybody else that would have been there some hope because maybe they had some worries. So it feels like a very hopeful conversation. 

A very intellectual, mature, productive, logical, realistic conversation. Like as if J-Hope let's just say as an example he was able to visit them and hang out then just a voice of grounding and caring and empathizing but still a very mature I've been there and done that and this is how you deal with it. 

I could probably literally flip a card and ask you know who was hanging around and if the star card comes out we can all piss ourselves

Yes you could probably say something like somebody he's really close to oh probably an Aquarius oh somebody he works and collaborates with lol 

The star card is also affiliated with dreams and hopes and communication. So again we know that it's somebody that he has a close connection to and they were talking about something that they want to build a future goal etc 

Well if the cards are going to be super accurate today then I'm going to ask for another clarification card on the seven of swords. Also if this were to be about a romantic relationship which how would he even have time but it definitely about further building an intimate relationship together, and talking about their plans for the future. You could definitely read it that way, I'm interpreting it as work based on the other cards but there's also a lot of room for feelings and romance. But I just see this more as a conversation about people's dreams and what they can build for the future related to creative action and business 

But I guess you could also be talking about other relationships in the life related to that and intertwined into all of that as well and that would account for the secrets. You know stuff that we don't really need to know about because it's related to their personal lives 

I clarified the seven of swords and got 10 of swords and back of deck returned to Knight of cups and the fool

That's interesting because well we saw the ten of swords before so there is something difficult that is taking a while to cycle out and of course this can be military service 

I mean it's just a weird combination of things so it could also be something that somebody has been working on for a long time or working through for a long time, there's a sense of guilt or bitterness, it seems to be connected to the hierophant issues as well since we saw the ten of swords there too. 

I want to say I'm feeling like a four of pentacles vibe like holding on to something but that's not quite right. 

If I had to take a guess it just feels like a sigh of relief because this feels like something somebody was holding on to that was kind of eating them up on the inside or worrying them and it was impeding progress toward something. That or like somebody was making slow progress and it was painful but the reason why it was slow progress feels more like there are exterior things happening. Like those blocks. Like paperwork or legalities. But I guess I just don't know what it is because maybe it's really specific 

It doesn't feel like an emotional hang up like an eight of swords. It feels like a frustration. Like you know if you go to the DMV in the US and they want 80 million different documentation things to get through this. There's a sense of obligation and procedure here. But I think that was a topic of a conversation and somebody with mature experienced advice came in and said well this is how you deal with it or you just have to get through this and then you can focus on this but this is just something you have to do for now. 

It's funny because I keep getting these moments of the feeling and want to describe a situation or example. But I just hear JK sighing and like this keeps coming up and it's getting in the way of this. But it's not something long like the entirety of service it's something specific. Like I keep trying to apply for this thing but then they come back and they say on top of that I need to submit this other thing. So it's like weird but this person is very persistent. He's not giving up on it because it's difficult. It's just annoying 

It could even be something as simple as let's say you're working on a project, and you mostly know what you're doing with it but then you keep getting caught on one part of it. Say you're recording a song. And there's this one part of the song and you just can't get your voice right or you just can't get the right music together at that part. And you keep going back to it like day in and day out to try to fix it. Almost you know what it feels like lol this is exactly what I'm feeling like when you edit a video. It's a very tedious experience where you have to like stop and redo and look at it and then go over this 

I wonder if that's maybe the creative gift that's being given. Like somebody is editing a video. And then somebody gave advice on how to edit that video or they're talking through something like that. I can't think of anything else that would be as frustrating but you just have to like go through the process 

So I guess if I had to take a random guess anything related back to somebody creating a creative gift for somebody. It would be an edited video of something lol whether it's a music video or a travel video but or like GCF style things. So yeah it feels like a video project somebody's working on together. Could it be a song sure? But there's a level of technology involved. That of course could be about recording song but to me I'm really strongly feeling editing a video frustration. I used to edit AMVs when I was really young so I remember what that was like or even trying to put together social media videos. I it's interesting that the star comes out I'm just telling you. There could be something happening now in Aquarius but it makes me wonder if related to the edited video it's J-Hope. Although maybe it's being cheeky and like well you used a photo from jhopes Instagram 

It could even be that that little picture is going to be part of a video or was part of a video that somebody edited. For example hear me out whether it was J-Hope or Jimin because we know at least two of those people were there or were aware of what was going on for JK's birthday. Somebody edited a video and sent it to j Hope and then he kind of took that clip out of it. I'm just saying 

If it is something that's not personal and actually coming out, the only timing here that I see is related to next April or early May during taurus season. That timing came out twice, so did Aquarius. Because it's the star and I relate that back to online communication this could be another travel log or travel situation 

Maybe J-Hope was like I also want something like are you sure. It seems like when the members come out of military service they're going to produce their own show type content 

So maybe they shared advice on how that works. So my prediction would be something like maybe something related to J-Hope in terms of creative content will come out around Aquarius to Taurus season give or take. It would likely be a music video or a vlog. And JK might have given advice on editing or just a conversation that they had. 

I am very positive that this was J-Hope but I could be biased because I know he posted. But the two of cups and this three of pentacles together that came out with the star. There is such affection here that it's just like gross lol 

This is exactly how I would imagine any of the younger members to feel about J-Hope. It's just like complete admiration and trusts and optimism even but like very business-like. I'm not surprised because this is also how I feel about J-Hope 

So overall yeah I mean I think if he talked to or met with any of the members over his birthday, they had a pretty intense or serious or productive conversation about an upcoming project related to music and or editing a video or a travel series or whatever. It feels very focused. Sometimes I get his cards and he's all like play play let's have a good time and live in the moment but this feels very focused on work and producing something that also has a creative element. There was some advice exchanged in the conversation, very level-headed, very experienced in this type of thing. There's also a feeling of newness as in if it's a music video or an album there's a really interesting and modern concept which is something I also associate with J-Hope. Like his last album to me had music I had never even heard of so he's very innovative in the sounds that he comes up with or the looks so I am pretty sure this would be a project that he's working on. I don't think it's possible for him to collab on a song with JK by then but that doesn't mean that JK didn't help. I don't know if he can even provide his voice for songs in the background but he definitely helped with something in relation to that. Like describing how something should be song or helping with lyrics 

You might find that the project could relate to words like dream or something about the future, being innovative, how something new is being tried, like something completely different 

Very serious birthday topics. Maybe they got drunk afterward but mostly it just feels like people talking shop 

And I imagine if they did talk about work in projects like that that JK would have gotten excited and inspired and thought about his own ideas for a while but mostly overall this just seems to describe a conversation and interaction specifically with in my mind it's absolutely jhope lol 

But could it be somebody else? Sure. Could it not be about J-Hope at all and be about a romantic relationship. That's a possibility but when I look at the three of pentacles and all these pentacles I am relating it more to work relationships very close work relationships. I mean sure you can interpret three of pentacles as building a romantic relationship with somebody like you talk about living together or something. That doesn't really feel like a conversation to be had at this moment in time but sure. I'm not saying that. To me it's sensitive emotionally mature advice that probably relates to creative projects and how to accomplish them. 

The only thing that comes to mind in terms of past projects is on. I know the members seem to really gravitate toward that song and so did fans. And I'm not saying on is particularly innovative or something anybody is trying to recreate but I feel like in that conversation somebody could have gone oh you mean like on. 

That could mean that the project particularly relates to dancing. 

I guess it could even be related to the past where I think Jhope's series came out and he was with that other dancer and they talked. I don't remember when that came out. But anyway so I am getting flashes of a creative project that requires a lot of editing and dancing elements and innovation, maybe colors as well especially blues pinks greens yellows. Like graffiti, fashion 

Anyway that's all I got. If I have my cards, I will try to do a Jimin birthday reading but… lol.

hello! i am a fellow novice calligrapher and i have a question that concerns a dip pen i have. if you're not looking to give advice right now, that's totally okay!

so i am trying to write with the waterman "serenity blue" ink using a dip pen with a wide-ish nib (i don't remember the exact size, probably around 2.5mm), but when i try to write with it sometimes, no ink flows out. i have been swirling the tip of the nib in the cap of the ink bottle just to get some of the left over ink onto the nib because, when there is already wet ink on the page, it writes perfectly. i am not explaining this very well.

Absolutely happy to advise!

Two things immediately spring to mind:

The first, and most common issue, is that your nib could use some more cleaning. To properly diagnose this I’d need to see the underside of the nib and how the ink is behaving - is it give you a nice even coating of ink, or pooling up and just sliding off?

The second (and possibly more likely in this case given how your first couple letters seem fine) is that this is just how dip nibs behave.

Now, I’m not saying they should completely stop working, but you kinda have to nudge them to get the ink flowing. This can either be a little sideways movement (look at how the P and o seemed to work mostly fine) or setting the nib down and waiting for a sec before starting the stroke if you don’t want a serif.

I haven’t done intense study of calligraphy, but I would not be surprised if this behavior is *why* hands like italic have the little starting serif - because that’s just what it takes to get the ink flowing.

Hopefully this helps - if anything didn’t make sense, let me know and I’ll find better resources/do a video.

[W I P] DR Adamantine Prologue Part 1

Recently I've been working a lot on the opening of my fangame, and figured it would be alright to show this part off now. As stated in the title, it's still a WIP, but feel free to leave your thoughts/feedback below :)

I narrow my eyes to refocus my vision, craning my neck to the left slightly to avoid compromising my view on the other side.

After letting a few seconds pass I do the same but in the other direction, making a conscious effort to not let the surroundings blur past me or let my thoughts wander like before.

With familiar scenery comes inattentiveness. Just like how you can take multiple routes on an outing, the mind can drift similarly, making you susceptible to any neighbouring stimuli. That’s why it’s better to exercise more caution.

Even on the most mundane of days.

With nothing of note in the front, I look out the corner of my eye in response to the small and high-pitched sneeze, to see Eri wiping her nose with a tissue.

The initial reason we weren’t any closer to the store was because you thought about turning back. But there isn’t any point in bringing that up.

Just like how a person’s skills can change, so can their confidence for better or worse.

For many, that skill is their main defining quality. You can go as far as to say it’s what they are. According to their words anyway. And by that extension, the same goes for talent.

 People tend to wear either on their sleeves, like a badge of honor. But in this day and age, if that talent is recognized as beyond exceptional, chances are you’ll be deemed as an Ultimate.

Technology, education, agriculture, entertainment. Much of the growth and development in these sectors and others is undeniably owed to them. 

In a lot of ways being an Ultimate means carving your name into the collective consciousness of man and becoming a part of something bigger. A common desire sown from the early stages of childhood which only goes on to grow during adolescence.

I never had much of an interest in chasing that goal, unlike my contemporaries.

Given how there’s a near worldwide infatuation for them, some may consider it me being a contrarian just for the sake of it.

 They’re free to think that. I’m… just simply content as I am. 

I don’t need much else.

The sound forces my head on a constant swivel as it gets louder. I try to pinpoint the source,  but there’s nothing around that looks to be what’s making it… Until my eyes land on the bend of the outstretched road.

As far as the eye can see, a small dark shape begins to appear around it. Within that same instance, the silhouette of a dark van rounding the corner enters my field of vision. 

With its unprecedented appearance, the hairs on my neck stand completely upright.

It whips around violently. Rather than remaining on the road, it sets its course onto some of the blindsided pedestrians.

 Apathetic to their fragility, the van hurls some across the road as if they are nothing more than unwanted cargo while flattening others like simple bugs. Each collision creates a resonance similar to branches violently snapping off a trunk.

I grab Eri by the arm and immediately run. 

Looking over my shoulder I see the vehicle continuing its assault at breakneck speeds, mowing down more people in the vicinity.

But only after a few feet from our original position, the van manages to close the distance between us in less than a second.

I quickly shove Eri away from me. 

Away from the van.

If someone were to ask you how valuable time was, one way to answer would be to put it into context.

How do you think a student felt after failing a one-year course?

Someone who missed the bus, but could have made it if they were only a minute earlier?

What about a mother after a month of giving birth?

In all these scenarios, there can always be something done within that given amount of time. Maybe something different.

Just like now, I could have perhaps headed in a different direction when the van appeared… 

Or even further back than that, like going home with Eri instead of going to the music store…

Doing so… Maybe…

I wouldn’t be a second away from tasting death.

Gif tutorial by Alinelovelace

Alright, I'll be doing 3 things here today:

1.) Sharing the programs and websites I use

2.) Showing y'all a tutorial on how I make my gifs (this is my first tutorial, so if anything doesn't make sense, don't hesitate to message me, send me an ask, or comment on this post!!!!!)

3.) Sharing some resources by insanely talented gif makers (because I learned how to make gifs by following tutorials)

It's probably important(?) to mention that I use a Windows laptop

A.) Programs and websites:

ezgif: to make my gifs and do light editing

You can make gifs with video clips or screen caps. I'm not advanced enough to use screen caps, though they're supposed to make gorgeous gifs. I use ezgif to make the actual gif and edit the timing (which I end up having to tweak on Photoshop but...)

I also like ezgif because no watermarks!! I will do anything in my power to get rid of watermarks from websites and editing programs because they bother the hell out of me!

Photoshop: for the rest of my editing

This is where I recolor and add text.

A great alternative to Photoshop is Photopea, which I've used before I "obtained" Photoshop. It's FREE and online, so you don't have to download anything! I highly recommend it if you really want to get into gif coloring !!!!

Currently, I get my videos from torrents (bc I have a wide selection for my family to watch on our tv). But I used to use the Xbox game bar on Windows to record the clips I wanted on online streaming sites (unfortunately there's not a whole lot up and running anymore), then cropped and cut them. If anyone's interested in that, I could probably post a separate tutorial for that another time :)

There's also screen cap websites out there and YouTube. And probably dozens of other ways to get videos that I don't know about!

B.) Tutorial:

I'll be remaking the first gifset I ever made since I've learned A LOT since then! It should be pretty simple since there's only one set of subtitles.

Another time, I could do an edit tutorial like my That 70s Show ones. It's just taking the same concepts as this tutorial though, and playing around with colors, fonts, and font placement.

1.) Find your video/screen caps:

Since I no longer have the video from my first gifset, I just googled "Mulder throwing pencils season 10" on YouTube. After finding the video, I copied the link and pasted it into a YouTube to MP4 site ((this site has never given me popups or tried to get me to download something that isn't my video file)).

2.) If your downloaded video clip is short enough, you can just stick it into ezgif. If not, you may have to cut it using a website or a computer program.

Ezgif.com -> video to gif -> browse -> select your file -> upload video

3.) After clicking upload video, you should find yourself on this page:

If you need to do any kind of video editing (cropping, rotating, resizing, etc) this is the place to do it! This is also where you make your gifs.

For the first gif, I don't need to change the start time, since I'm starting at the beginning of the video. 0 seconds is fine. But for the stop time, I'm going to play the video, pause where I want my first gif to end, then press "use current position" by end time.

I don't usually touch the settings for size, FPS, or method. If the gif doesn't have a lot of movement, I check "optimize for static background"

Then press convert to gif.

Here's the product I got. Since it's such a short clip, it moves a little fast for me.

I'm going to click "speed" which is below the gif. You're brought to this page:

This is completely up to you for speed, but I find that between 60% and 85% end up looking good. If you don't like it, just change the number in the box and press "change speed". I ended up with mine at 65% of current speed.

A little better, right? The gifs that turn out best are 3 seconds to 10 seconds in my experience. This one is 1.5 seconds, so it's a little fast.

After that, rinse and repeat for every gif you need to make.

4.) Editing time! This is for Photoshop (if you use Photopea, I very much recommend this tutorial. It's very well explained!)

Go ahead and open all of your gifs once Photoshop is booted up. Then click window -> timeline

Now you have a handy dandy little timeline on the bottom.

The first thing you're going to do click play and decide whether or not your gifs are running at the speed you want. If yes, move on to next step.

If not: click on the three lines -> select all frames -> little drop down arrow. You should have a variety of times available to choose. Usually, I click other, then put somewhere between 0.04 and 0.08 seconds. Click play again. If you don't like it, try this step again.

If you need to crop your gif, three lines -> select all frames. Press "c" on your keyboard and crop accordingly.

4a.) Color editing

This is where things get complicated. Just remember coloring is subjective and everyone does it differently. This is just an intro to the different tools most gif makers use to alter color.

You don't have to use all of these! I definitely pick and choose depending on how I want the coloring to look. When I'm making a gif set, my coloring isn't as adventurous as when I'm making an edit. It doesn't feel worth it to give away my settings for this gifset since it changes depending on the coloring and lighting of the scene.

All of these tools can be found under "create new filter adjustment layer"

• Brightness/Contrast

This one is the easiest in my opinion. It's pretty straightforward. The more you drag brightness the right, the brighter your gif gets. The more you drag contrast to the right, the higher the contrast is.

• Curves

This adjusts lighting with color values. It's another tool that's hard to explain. I just drag the little circles on the chart until it looks good

• Color Balance

Like every other setting, exactly what you do with this tool is up to you. Color Balance adjusts the overall tint of your gif. I recommend editing highlights, shadows, and midtones for the best results.

• Channel mixer

This one is one of the most complicated tools when making gifs in my opinion. It's best for getting rid of weird colored tints (think the blue coloring in Twilight). I'll just link a tutorial here for it. I don't make enough gifs to know how to explain it.

• Selective color

Hands down my favorite tool, though not only specifically for gif making. This tool allows you to select a color (reds, yellows, greens, cyans, blues, magentas, whites, neutrals, blacks) and edit each color group. For example: my skin in photos usually has a weird red tint. I can edit the reds in my photo using this tool to make it look less abrasive.

You just play around with the different colors and bars for each color until each color group looks good. I recommend hitting the highest value to see how the color changes/what parts of the gif are affected by the change.

In the instance below, I wanted to see how magenta affected the blue colors, so I dragged magenta to 100. Now, knowing what kind of color changes magenta will make to blue, I can adjust accordingly.

• Vibrance

Another pretty self explanatory tool! Vibrance and saturation bars make the gif colors more colored and vibrant.

• Applying the filters to all frames

Shift click to select all the filters, and drag them above all the layers. They should now be applied to all the frames.

If not, select all frames with the three lines menu drop down like before -> click the little eye to turn off visibility, then click it again to turn it back on. You should be able to see everything now.

In order to carry the same colors from gif to gif, I take pictures of each setting and edit each filter adjustment layer accordingly. I side by side compare and make adjustments if the coloring doesn't match quite right. I'm sure there's a better way to do this, but I'm not experienced enough yet.

4b.) Subtitles

This part isn't too bad. For subtitle text, I use Calibri. Myriad pro bold italic and Arial are also really good options though!

• Text

Go to the sidebar and select text. Drag yourself out a box approximately where you want your subtitles. Type whatever you want. If you don't like where it is, click the move tool and drag it wherever you'd like.

• Blending options

Right click your text layer and select "blending options" at the top. I edit stroke, which adds an outline. I also edit drop shadow, just because it adds a little depth to the text

• Applying to all frames

Drag the text layer to the top, just like you did with the adjustment filter layers when coloring. The same troubleshooting applies.

5.) Exporting

I know there's other ways to do this, but this is the way that makes the most sense to me.

Select all frames on the timeline -> file -> export -> save for web (legacy) -> save

Okay, so, I started BG3. But this post is not about spoilers. It's about how it looks.

You see, I preordered it when it first became available, and participated in Early Access for most of its duration (except for two last patches). As you may know, during the development Larian abruptly changed the system requirements. And while my laptop with old GTX1050 was sitting comfortably enough in the middle of the old requirements, it's barely able to crawl under the minimum of the new version.

So, while the game was running smoothly with the medium graphic settings at the start of EA, by druids patch I couldn't even get to the first settlement because of the freezes, textures lagging in and out of their blurry existence, T-posing, etc. It was pretty bad.

Reportedly, the final game should have been optimized a bit better, so I decided to give it a shot and see how it looks like on the same laptop almost 3 years since the first download.

Yeah, I know that the cloud gaming exist. It costs money and needs a speedy internet connection.

And the game greeted me with this.

(Changed everything from medium to low except for the texture quality - it's still on medium. Had to say goodbye to the distance blur as well)

Same laptop, same graphic card, 3 years of development in-between.

Which is especially gutting, because the hair quality was really good during the first EA patches even on the lower graphic settings and older machines. But at some point the developers decided to change it, turning it into greasy looking pixelated something.

Larian, why :(

Some hairstyles managed to lag through into something decent.

Others did not.

The hair's reaction to lightning in this room/location is atrocious btw.

Even when the textures are fully uploaded.

It's a LED wig, I got it.

Comparison of the first model appearance vs after the textures loaded in is quite funny, though.

It jumped to the left version each time I moved the camera in/out even a tiny bit, loading the textures from the right anew. Each. Time. The same happened during the last patches of EA, except that back then the loading could take a few minutes. Now it's either ~15 sec or not loading at all here.

Tbh, after seeing all of that in the dressing room, I dreaded of what would I see during the main game.

But it's surprisingly better. Almost no jarring rounded pixelation, and no jumping between abyssmal low and normal version of textures.

The reaction to light still sucks sometimes. The hair pick too much from the light sources that are barely visible otherwise and don't light up anything else to the same degree.

As for the optimization: yes, it indeed became better. Still not the first EA release quality for me, sadly, but by far better than the latest EA patches. Textures are way more steady now: they still take a few seconds to load in during the big cutscenes, but it's like nothing compared to the previous mess. During the regular exploration gameplay character (and most of environmental) textures are always steady. I even managed to watch the full crashing cutscene as a, well, cutscene instead of three half-loaded frames that took 20 min to render. And I was running freely on the beach despite the falling ash and everything that almost killed my frames back then.

Also, it still doesn't heat up my laptop all that much, which is a pleasant surprise.

Filtered Reality: The Hidden Toll of AR Beauty

Let’s be real: augmented reality (AR) filters on Instagram can be so much fun. With a tap, you can glow like a goddess, contour your face like a pro, or transform into a fantasy character. But while these filters are entertaining, there’s an unspoken side to their long-term use (and it’s not as pretty as the filtered version of your face).

Many of these beauty filters subtly “enhance” features by shrinking noses, enlarging eyes, plumping lips, and smoothing skin, which is often based on Eurocentric beauty standards (Elmi, 2024). Over time, this constant digital retouching can distort our self-perception. What begins as playful experimentation may evolve into quiet self-doubt. It’s no surprise that studies link heavy filter use to increased body dysmorphia, anxiety, and low self-esteem (Ateq et al., 2024; Khalid & Andleeb, 2024; Elsadai et al., 2022).

But of course, it would be foolish for us to outright ban filters, so what can we do about this issue? That’s where digital citizenship plays an important role.

We can start by being more mindful about our own filter habits and setting boundaries for ourselves. Do you only post when you’re filtered? Why? Are you hiding, or are you curating? There’s a difference.

It also means calling out problematic filters, for example those that perpetuate unrealistic beauty standards or morph people beyond recognition, like how Laura Ghiacy or Ben Carpenter did in their videos. I especially liked Carpenter’s points as he mentioned how even subtle filters could change one’s perception of their own features. Just a mere 30 seconds of using a filter that only tanned his skin and whitened his teeth made him less “okay” with his initial face which goes to show how big of an effect these filters have on us. Platforms like Instagram should also be more transparent, labeling modified content clearly and providing users with education on body image and digital wellness, which thankfully they do.

Digital citizenship is about accountability, not just from the top down, but from the ground up. By being conscious of the subtle pressures AR filters create, we can resist them and advocate for a more honest digital culture. Because at the end of the day, our real faces deserve to be seen and celebrated, just as they are. We wouldn’t want a world where everyone looked the same, right?

Allegations of Bribery in Solar Contracts

“The real treat that we’re getting from this show is an immense collaboration with Native writers, producers, musicians, designers, beadworkers,” Jana Schmieding, the lead, told me.

Schmieding serves as one of the show’s five Native writers, alongside co-creator and executive producer Sierra Teller Ornelas. “We had queer representation, Black representation, Latinx representation, and Asian representation. It was a very female-heavy [writers’] room too,” Schmieding explains. “Within the Native writers, there was also diversity among us; all of us come from different sovereign nations and different regions across Turtle Island, as we would say.” [x]

The show does center around the white character during the first season, but that changes and is maybe even lampshaded in the second one. That said, and also admitting that I'm not a huge fan of Ed Helms, this show is a joy to watch. It's heartwarming, and funny, and you're gonna love the characters. You'll also want to beg Michael Greyeyes to read you absolutely anything because he has the most soothing voice.

Atticus:

I was looking through the car window. The sun was almost sunset, fortunately. I hadn't drunk enough blood today to be able to walk under the sun for a long time.

"Rosemary is always getting us into trouble, I need to upload a new photo or my followers will be disappointed," Lucas complained while driving.

"I'm sure they can wait until we finish it. This could happen to anybody, it's bad luck," I sighed.

My heart wouldn't stop beating. I wanted to see her, but at the same time, I didn't want. Too many unprocessed feelings between us.

"By the way, can you repeat for which you have broken up?" he said looking at me, taking his eyes off the road which made the car do an S and we almost got off the road.

"Do you want to kill us?" I said the sentence so worried that we both laughed; as if a minor road accident could kill a lord vampire and a shapeshifter. "Okay, you park on this side of the road, we'll walk the rest. They are a few kilometers inside the forest."

I outed the car rapidly when he parked. I wasn't in the mood to speak about my breakup with Rose and Lucas had been trying for a few days to get me to open up. He's my best friend but this's something that I want to share with others.

"Dude, you don't answer me about Rose," he said while he closed the car.

"It's not your business..." a scream interrupted me.

The birds began to fly frenetically in the opposite direction of the scream. Lucas and I looked at each other with decidedly. He turned into a shape half human half bear and we started to run at full speed.

Fenix:

I was very dizzy. It was like getting out of bed fast and then you feel like your room would be a Mario Kart racing. It wasn't yet night although the sun had almost set,  my trick had worked enough.

Strong winds that lashed around caught my attention. The witches were making the stupid ritual and the magic forces were collapsing. The girls and Kevin were in the second circle in black tunics while Rosemary was in the center in a white tunic with golden embroideries. All of them sang together a strange canticle. The aesthetics of a satanic cult from a bad terror movie were achieved, point for them.

I tried to get up and a snake head started to hiss. Well, a cord with a very bad spell of illusion started to hiss. Most people would think this an animatronic or a toy before a real snake; amateurs.

Suddenly, they began to scream in unison. They were four people but they were so synchronized that seemed like one. The birds flew away. I began to push with my body trying to untie me. It wasn't complicated, who tied me needed to learn about knots.

They were in silence after that strange scream. I approach Kevin. "oh, shit" I yelled. They had their eyes rolled and cried blood, very disgusting. The rest of them were the same. The magic was getting more chaotic by the second.

I should balance this shit, shouldn't I? I thought.

I checked the makeup case searching for something useful. Lapislazuli not, Himalayan salt not, little iron bars, maybe. I took the iron bars and a compass. The corner was orienting to the magnetic north as I had supposed, a rookie mistake on their part.

I began to stick the bars into the ground, the magic surrounding me was overwhelming. I was having a horrible headache. But I could put the bars without problems until I need to stick the last bar in the center, near Rose.

I approach the center slowly, the magic was stronger and I felt worse with every step. I fell to the ground and was dragging myself to get to my objective. I used my last strength to stick the bar in front of Rose's knee. The wing stopped and I felt calm for a sec until I saw a black shadow coming out of one crack in the sky.

We are screwed was the last thing I could think before I passed out.

Lucas:

I had left Atticus behind, although both of us are faster than normal people, he don't even come close to me. I followed the smell, it was complicated to distinguish the people's smell because of the sulfur odor which spread throughout the forest.

Finally, I smelled Rosemary perfume, the magic rose scent is very unique; the twins who always accompany her; someone I don't know; and a familiar smell but I couldn't realize who.

I arrived in the small glade. The twins were helping to get up at each other, while Rose tried to flip a guy who was in the ground. The guy didn't smell like a witch but maybe he was using a spell.

"What the hell happened here?" I asked.

A black guy who was trying to get up started to yell when he noticed me, my bestial form usually has this effect, even in witches.

"Shut up, Kevin!" Rosemary yelled with an angry look. "It's a friend of mine."

"Well more like a friend of a friend," I said turning into my normal form.

I had broken my sneakers again. I never remember taking off my shoes when I change. My father was going to kill me. I took off my shoes and threw them away because they were a rag after my run through the woods.

"Where is Atticus?" Rose asked me when I approached her.

"He was following my tail, but I'm faster," I helped her to move the guy, then I realize why there was a familiar smell. "Shit, why is Fenix here?"

"He followed us, for this reason, we called Atticus. Then the summoning got out of hand, and..." She stayed staring at a bar stuck in the ground. "Who made this?" Everyone shook their heads. "It's impossible that it made him," she whispered.

I give a soft slap to Fenix, but he was totally unconscious. Then Atticus arrived with his red iris and black veins. This guy, Kevin, almost started to yell again, but Rosemary made an angry face which was more terrifying than a vampire or any other creature.

Atticus approach us, "Thanks for coming," Rose said in a sweet tone, I felt a chill down my spine.

"Always," Atticus answered with a smile.

I cleared my throat because this began to fill annoyance and we had an unconscious human in our hands.

"We need to do something with him," I said.

She moved her hands trying to make a spell "I have used too much power, I'm dry for two hours at least,"

Atti approached his ear at Fenix's chest "His heart sounds well. Although I could try to erase his memories when he wakes up, a witch has to check him. We should go to the foundation," he said.

Rosemary only nodded and I took Fenix in my back. He was still a featherweight.

Rosemary:

I changed my clothes rapidly and gave orders to pick up and go home. Atticus, Lucas, and I started to walk toward Luca's car. I would go pick mine up in another moment.

This has been a total disaster, Mother will be so disappointed, I thought.

Atticus round me with an arm and smile at me. "Don't worry, everything will be alright."

I felt more myself when we are together. I missed him more than I could admit.

"You're a bad liar for someone who can manipulate people's minds," I joked.

"Not really, I think that Fenix is well. We only need to erase his memories.."

"And find out what happened," I interrupted him

"What do you mean?"

"I think he broke the spell," Atticus looked at me confused. "The spell was wrong. I don't know what happened, but the energies were so chaotic that we all went into a trance. These iron bars weren't our thing."

"I don't understand, he's human, isn't he? He cannot make magic."

"He didn't make magic, but he balanced the forces in a way that I don't quite understand. However, I'll get my answers before the end of the day or my name isn't Rosemary Booth."

The USPS's murder is straight out of the neoliberal playbook: "1 Defund, 2 claim crisis, 3 call for privatizatization, 4 profit!"

As Lambert Strether points out, it was a bipartisan act of murder, cosponored by the "centrist" Democrat Henry Waxman.

The proposals are for USPS to become a Wework clone or franchisee, but not to become a publicly owned bank - a common line of business for other nations' postal services, natural based on the amounts of cash they handle.

The USPS is the nation's second largest employer of veterans, with 630,000 employees. Trump is about to allow it to collapse so that UPS, Fedex and other private firms can skim off the most profitable parts of its business and leave rural Americans totally isolated.

The loss of the USPS would mean the loss of the last truly universal federal program in America and would unduly hammer the people whom Trump claims to love -- veterans and rural voters.
